Gary W. Fredericks
Chief Executive Officer
Gary began his career on Wall Street at E.F. Hutton & Co., where he led the development of the broker’s TEFRA Department. From there, Gary progressed to Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. (a.k.a. Chemical Bank), where he was one of the bank’s top 5% performers out of 17,000+ employees worldwide.
In addition, he was instrumental in migrating several businesses from New York City to Delaware for J.P. Morgan. While at the investment bank, he was brought into underperforming areas and spearheaded the turnaround.
After 20 years as an institutional, private, and investment banker, he joined Temple University as an Administrator and adjunct faculty member in the Fox School of Business. He also served as President and CEO of Innovative Schools Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization established to support charter and other innovative schools in Delaware.
In 1998, Gary joined with a group of parents interested in starting the Newark Charter School and later joined the board as Chairman. He played an integral role in the school’s opening. He led efforts to secure financing for the school’s permanent facilities and headed the committee that oversaw the design and construction of the school’s two buildings totaling over 143,000 square feet. His leadership enabled all projects to be completed on schedule and under budget.
Gary has a bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television-Film from Temple University and lives in Newark, Delaware. He is the father of two sons. He has served as an officer of Delaware United Football Club and finance committee member at the Charter School of Wilmington. He has also served as Vice President of the Wilmington Police Athletic League and has served on many other nonprofit boards. He loves music and can be seen performing part-time with his brother in clubs in New Jersey.
Cheryl A. Hurtt
President and Chief Operating Officer
Cheryl has more than 30 years of experience in office management, including accounts receivable/payable, benefits administration, and payroll. She began her career as Assistant Bookkeeper and Accounts Payable Clerk before joining a retail establishment, where she handled payroll, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and disability claims for 300 employees. In 1988 she became the Accounting/Administrative Assistant for a real estate development company where, in addition to processing payroll, she also handled real estate leases and tenant services.
In 2005, she joined a nonprofit organization as Executive Assistant to the President. In 2008, she became a founding partner in EFS Business Partners, now OnPoint Partners, where she is in charge of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and human resources services. Her mission is to help business owners achieve increased profits and managed business growth.
Cheryl has an Associate Degree in Accounting from Burlington County College in Pemberton, New Jersey. She is the mother of two boys. She currently resides in Newark, Delaware.
Laurel E. Miles
Director of Business Development
Laurel is an ambitious visionary who is intent on creating positive growth for businesses and the people behind them. As Director of Business Development for OnPoint Partners, Laurel focuses on seeking out growth opportunities for the company, improving the systems currently in place, and uncovering new ways to provide first-class, personalized service to our valued clients.
Laurel has an unending passion towards the arts, including music, painting, photography, writing, graphic design, and computer programming. Always hungry to learn new skills and find the adventures in life, Laurel hopes to inspire others to chase a better future.
After graduating as Student Marshal (Valedictorian) of the College of Liberal Arts at Penn State University, Brooke moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career in translations at an international foreign language firm. A few years later, she returned to her home state of Pennsylvania for family reasons and pivoted her career to focus on professional writing. The move also afforded Brooke the opportunity to gain significant experience in sales, business development, and marketing. For the last six years, Brooke has focused her expertise on social media and marketing messaging.
Brooke is a Board Member of the Delaware Small Business Chamber and is passionate about supporting small businesses. She is also a highly sought-out public speaker, having won multiple awards from Toastmasters International. Outside of work, Brooke enjoys hiking, cooking, and learning foreign languages. She and her husband have six children and live in Newark, Delaware.
Dawn’s love for numbers and details has guided her through her 40-year career in accounting, serving companies in a variety of industries. In addition, she co-owned a catering company for 9 years and volunteered at organizations including Mid-Atlantic Ballet, American Red Cross, and Mosaic (arts group collaboration). Dawn is now semi-retired, and when not traveling or doing volunteer work with SHARP Dance Company, she is employed by OnPoint Partners and a couple other local businesses/organizations.
Dawn has two grown children and lives in Newark, Delaware.
Lori spent the first 20 years of her career running a custom apparel company for the owner. This is where she gained experience with all aspects of business operations, including sales ordering, finance, sales presentations, and graphic design. Lori then served as Office and Payroll Manager for a design build firm. It was in this position that she cemented her bookkeeping and accounting skills.
Lori then launched her own business in conjunction with working in other companies in various roles where her experience in operations came in handy. Lori is more than a bookkeeper; she understands the many nuances of running the day-to-day of small- and mid-sized businesses. Lori is a valued member of the OnPoint Partners team.
Kathiann (Kathy) Bennett
Kathy started her career in 1990 as a Financial and Inventory Auditor for 21 locations of a national pizza restaurant chain in northern New Jersey, where she grew up. She then moved into a management position at a national women’s clothing retail chain, in which she held a management position for several years.
She then took her services to one of the nation’s largest banks, where she managed tellers in a large branch in northern New Jersey. From there, she spent several years working at a hospice care facility. Kathy has spent the last 13 years working as an Administrator/Bookkeeper/Dispatcher at a towing company in Dover, Delaware, where she now lives with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
